Responsibilities

1. Performs diagnostic CT procedures using specific equipment, rotating through diagnostic radiology as assigned.
2. Practices radiation and general safety at all times.
3. Prepares room, equipment, and materials for patient exams, maintaining sterile technique and disinfecting after each use.
4. Explains procedures to patients, documents variations from protocol, and relays patient history to Radiologist.
5. Monitors patient and equipment, reports unusual occurrences, and assists with patient transport.
6. Maintains accurate documentation, including patient status, variances, and repeats.
7. Maintains supplies, labels films properly, and follows infection control policies.
8. Produces diagnostic quality images, judges image quality, and performs studies with mobile radiographic equipment as needed.
9. Provides care tailored to neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.
10. May perform IV insertion and blood draws, administer contrast media, and utilize PACS for exam completion.

Minimum Qualifications

The minimum qualifications vary by location and hire date, but generally include:

• Certification in Radiography (ARRT or NMTCB) and CT (ARRT or NMTCB).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days of hire.
• One year of computed tomography experience.
• Educational requirements vary by state, including graduation from an AMA-approved Radiologic Technology program for Pennsylvania.

Additional Requirements

Physical ability to perform duties, including lifting and moving patients, exposure to radiation, and working in high-stress environments.

Work Environment

Exposure to body fluids, contagious diseases, sharps, and radiation, with accommodations available for disabilities.
