Job Description for CT Technologist

Responsibilities:
- Perform diagnostic CT procedures using specific equipment, rotating through diagnostic radiology as assigned.
- Ensure radiation and general safety practices are followed at all times.
- Prepare rooms, equipment, and materials for patient exams, maintaining sterile technique and infection control.
- Explain procedures to patients, document variations, and relay patient history to Radiologists.
- Monitor patient and equipment status, report unusual occurrences, and assist with patient transport.
- Maintain accurate documentation, including patient charts, exam status, and variances.
- Maintain supplies, perform general office duties, and ensure proper film labeling and technique.
- Practice safe radiation exposure and safety protocols for patients, visitors, and staff.
- Produce diagnostic quality images, judge image quality, and perform additional diagnostic studies as ordered.
- Provide care tailored to neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.
- May perform IV insertions, blood draws, and administer contrast media as per protocol.
- Utilize PACS for exam completion and review.
Qualifications:
- Certification in Radiography (ARRT or NMTCB) and Computed Tomography (ARRT or NMTCB).
- Radiologic or Nuclear Medicine Technologist certification through relevant state board.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days of hire.
- One year of computed tomography experience.
Physical and Environmental Requirements:
- Frequent walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, and feeling.
- Ability to lift and move patients of all weights, exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally.
- Normal hearing and visual acuity.
- Exposure to body fluids, contagious diseases, sharps, and radiation.
Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of growth and development and patient care needs.
- Understanding of biophysical, psychosocial, cultural, and ethical considerations.
