Job summary

UVA Community Health in Manassas, VA seeks a full-time CT technologist to assist physicians in diagnostic imaging and operate CT equipment to obtain high-quality scans.

The role requires ARRT CT certification, 1 year of CT experience, and completion of an ARRT radiography program; on-site, day shift, with a sign-on bonus.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; associate degree preferred.
• Graduate of ARRT-approved Radiography Program.
• ARRT-CT certification required within 12 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patients for CT procedures and operate CT equipment under physician supervision.
• Obtain diagnostic CT scans while following safety and quality protocols.
• Explain procedures and post-procedure orders to patients to gain cooperation.
• Maintain sterile equipment and adhere to universal precautions.
• Adjust imaging settings to obtain proper density and contrast.

JOB SUMMARY

The CT technologist assists physicians in the performance of diagnostic and/or therapeutic procedures by preparing the patient and operating the CT equipment in order to obtain diagnostic scans.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education

High School Diploma or GED required. 2 Year/Associate's Degree preferred. Graduate of ARRT- approved Radiography Program.

Experience

1 year of experience in CT preferred. Refer to the Life Support Training Policy for additional details.

Licensure

Certified and registered by ARRT in CT - RT(R)(CT) within 12 months of hire required.

Additional Skills/Requirements Required

Analytical ability, basic computer skills, good communication skills, ability to adapt to procedures based on age of patient, ability to interpret information to identify each patient's requirements for care relative to his/her age specific needs. Prepares patient for procedures. Operates CT equipment.

  • Cleans examination surfaces between patients.
  • Provides clean linen including sheets, gowns, pillowcases, and towels.
  • Immediately cleans spills following universal precautions.
  • Properly stores accessory equipment when not in use.
• Teamwork: Works within a team to achieve patient and team goals.
  • Shares and initiates regular and professional communication with co-workers.
  • Facilitates and participates in regular staff meetings.
• Technical Competency: Follows routine standards and properly and safely manipulates equipment, within its limitations, to obtain images.
  • Maintains sterile equipment and fields.
  • Adjusts cameras to obtain the proper density and contrast.
  • Performs any necessary warm‑up and quality control procedures on the equipment.
  • Uses protocols to obtain images of internal structures.
  • Critiques images for quality and makes necessary judgments to determine if repeat is necessary.

The incumbent may be asked to perform additional duties as assigned.

The base compensation range for this role is $40.75 - $50.50 hourly.

Individual compensation will be determined by the selected candidate's qualifications, previous work experience, and/or education. Please note that the pay range does not include any applicable incentive compensation programs such as shift differentials, clinical ladders, and other incentives that may be available for those in eligible positions.
