Job description

Hours:

36 hours weekly, Saturday, Sunday, Monday 12:00pm-9:30pm.

MelroseWakefield Hospital

Competitive shift differential for weekend track.

Job Profile Summary

This role focuses on using various imaging techniques and practices to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of patients. It involves performing CT Scan duties, utilizing CT Scan Technology to provide images of internal organs, bones, and soft tissue. This is a clinical technologist role requiring specialized knowledge gained through vocational education, training, and experience. The role is most applicable to patient care and/or scientific/laboratory jobs, requiring an experienced level of knowledge of job procedures and tools, working under moderate supervision, and involving routine problem-solving with some interpretation or deviation from standard procedures.

Minimum Qualifications:
  1. Graduate of an accredited Nuclear Medicine, Radiological Technologist program.
  2. One (1) year of experience as a CT Technologist.
  3. Radiologic Technologist License.
  4. American Registry of Radiological Technologist (AART).
  5. Licensed by the Massachusetts Radiation Control Board.
  6. CT Advanced Registry from AART or registry eligible.
  7. Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
Duties and Responsibilities:

The following are general duties and responsibilities, not an exhaustive list. Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Follow hospital protocol for exam routines and produce quality studies efficiently.
  2. Operate all departmental equipment or request training in specific areas.
  3. Properly warm up the CT scanner, run QA, and manage related equipment.
  4. Complete CT procedures effectively, providing appropriate patient feedback and maintaining a clean environment.
  5. Adjust and manipulate images as required, including windowing, contrast, and creating reformatted images.
  6. Select proper scanning levels depending on the scan field and organ.
  7. Ensure scans are properly identified and all relevant information is documented.
  8. Complete administrative tasks, including tech editing, patient escorting, and room preparation.
  9. Report equipment malfunctions to the appropriate personnel.
  10. Report findings to physicians and other departments as necessary.
  11. Manage prior exams, burn CDs, and handle related tasks.
  12. Stock rooms, request supplies, and maintain a clean and functional work area.
  13. Perform clerical duties to maintain workflow and quality standards.
  14. Work collaboratively with staff, other departments, and physicians.
  15. Ensure patient identification and educate patients professionally about procedures.
  16. Proactively meet customer needs and address problems.
Physical Requirements:
  1. Frequent standing, occasional sitting, walking, and lifting of 30-35 lbs.
  2. Manual dexterity for operating radiology equipment.
  3. Sufficient hearing and visual acuity to perform examinations and monitor equipment.
Skills & Abilities:
  1. Knowledge of medical terminology.
  2. Clerical skills.
  3. Knowledge of scanners, Med Rad injections, PACs, VRC, Powerscribe.
