Qualifications

Job description

Hours:

36 hours weekly, Friday, Saturday, Sunday 7am-8pm.

Location:

MelroseWakefield Hospital

Job Profile Summary:

This role focuses on using various imaging techniques to aid in diagnosis and treatment. It involves performing CT scans, utilizing CT technology to image internal organs, bones, and soft tissue. The role requires specialized knowledge gained through vocational education, training, and experience, primarily applied to patient care or scientific/laboratory jobs. It is an experienced role requiring basic knowledge of procedures and tools, working under moderate supervision, and capable of interpreting routine problems.

Minimum Qualifications:
  1. Graduate of an accredited Nuclear Medicine, Radiological Technologist program.
  2. One (1) year of experience as a CT Technologist.
  3. Radiologic Technologist License.
  4. American Registry of Radiological Technologist (AART) or Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification (NMTCB).
  5. Licensed by the Massachusetts Radiation Control Board.
  6. CT Advanced Registry from AART or registry eligible.
  7. Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
Duties and Responsibilities:

The duties listed below describe the general nature of work; other duties may be assigned.

  1. Follow hospital protocols for exam routines and produce quality studies efficiently.
  2. Operate all equipment or request training in specific areas.
  3. Properly warm up the CT scanner, run QA, manage pressure injectors, PACs units, and Meditech.
  4. Complete CT procedures effectively, providing feedback to patients and maintaining cleanliness.
  5. Adjust and manipulate images to meet specifications, including windowing, contrast, and reformatted images.
  6. Select proper scanning levels based on the scan field and organ.
  7. Ensure scans are properly identified with all relevant information.
  8. Complete administrative tasks like tech editing, escorting patients, and cleaning rooms.
  9. Report equipment malfunctions to the Coordinator or delegate.
  10. Report findings to physicians and other staff, and access RadPortal if needed.
  11. Restore prior exams for radiologists and burn CDs for patients or ER as requested.
  12. Manage stock rooms and maintain a clean, functional work area.
  13. Perform clerical duties to maintain workflow and quality.
  14. Interact professionally with staff, other departments, and physicians.
  15. Exceed patient expectations for quality service.
  16. Identify patients by asking name and checking arm bands.
  17. Educate patients about procedures and expectations.
  18. Proactively meet customer needs and resolve issues.
Physical Requirements:
  1. Frequent standing, occasional sitting, walking, and lifting 30-35 lbs.
  2. Manual dexterity for operating radiology equipment.
  3. Sufficient hearing and visual acuity for examinations and monitoring equipment.
Skills & Abilities:
  1. Knowledge of medical terminology.
  2. Clerical skills.
  3. Knowledge of scanners, Med Rad injectors, PACs, VRC, Powerscribe.
