Job summary

Westchester Medical Center in New York seeks a Licensed CT Technologist to operate CT and x-ray equipment, prepare patients, and collaborate with Radiologists to obtain diagnostic scans. You will follow safety procedures and radiology best practices across diverse patient age groups.

The role requires NY licensure, BLS certification, and CT certification within 3–6 months of hire, with a preference for prior diagnostic radiology experience using CT equipment.

Qualifications

• Prior diagnostic radiology experience with CT equipment preferred.
• Graduate of an accredited AMA School of Radiology.
• Licensed by the State of New York.
• AHA BLS certification, AART registered or eligible.
• Must obtain CT Certification within 3-6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Adjusts x-ray equipment to correct setting for each examination, and positions and instructs patients and determines proper voltage, current and desired exposure time for each radiograph.
• Selects appropriate CT protocol for each CT examination.
• Screens CT patients prior to administration of intravenous and/or oral contrast media (including investigation of blood results, allergic history, etc.).
• Operates CT intravenous contrast injector with physician supervision (e.g., radiologist, ED MD, etc.).
• Arranges, attaches and adjusts immobilizing and supportive devices to obtain precise position and reduce movement, and adjusts lead shield to protect non-target areas.
• Positions x-ray equipment at proper distance and angle to present clear view, adjusting cone to focus rays.
• Repeats exposure as prescribed by physician.
• Performs procedures with mobile x-ray equipment in OR/ER/bedside as needed.
• Prepares and administers contrast media when required to enhance imaging.
• Cleans and adjusts equipment; documents studies in EMR (ConnectCare).
• Demonstrates care appropriate to patients across age groups and adheres to infection control policies.
