The candidate will work with physicians to determine procedures, prepare contrast material, transfer images to PACS, and adhere to infection control policies.

Qualifications

  • ARRT certification in Radiography and NY state license required.
  • Eligible for ARRT CT certification; CT certification within 12 months if hired.
  • If internal candidate, must pursue ARRT-CT within 12 months to maintain CT role.
  • If external hire, 12 months to obtain CT certification.
  • Strong communication with patients, physicians and staff.
  • Good independent judgment in performing procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Provide immobilization devices and select appropriate factors for CT procedures.
  • Ensure radiation protection and safety per protocol.
  • Coordinate with physician and read orders for testing procedures.
  • Assist with contrast material preparation and administration.
  • Transfer images to PACS with required documents.
  • Maintain infection control and sterile techniques.
  • Transport patients to/from Radiology when needed.
  • Prepare equipment and materials for CT and IR procedures.
  • Review studies for adequacy and adjust as needed.
  • Maintain professional conduct and patient care quality.
  • Register patients and answer phones as required.
  • Maintain daily QC and complete requisitions.
  • Keep CT scanner and radiology rooms clean and orderly.
  • Manage inventory of supplies for CT/IR rooms.
  • Supervise student radiographers' clinical instruction.
  • Maintain attendance per hospital standards.
  • Protect patient information per state and federal regulations.
  • Ensure smooth operation of CT/IR areas.
  • Adhere to department policies and confidentiality.
  • Support accuracy of records and documentation.
  • Collaborate with team to ensure timely imaging workflow.

CT Scan Technologist Needed – Hospital Position in Brooklyn

Multiple Shifts Available

Job Description
  • 1. Provides immobilization devices as required.
  • 2. Selects proper technical factors on an individual basis.
  • 3. Provides radiation protection.
  • 4. Responsible for delegated areas of authority in the performance of routine or CT procedures.
  • 5. Consults with physician and/or reads physician's orders to determine proper testing procedures according to established protocol.
  • 6. Assists the physician in preparing and administering contrast material.
  • 7. Transfers images to PACS system with the necessary scanned documents.
  • 8. Practices sterile techniques and prevents cross contamination. Adheres to Infection Control Policies.
  • 9. When necessary must transport patients to and from the Radiology Department.
  • 10. Provides radiation protection in accordance with prescribed safety standards and built in low dose features.
  • 11. Responsible for delegated areas of authority in the performance of CT and IR procedures.
  • 12. Prepares all accessory materials and/or equipment for all the procedures as directed by the Radiologist.
  • 13. Examines the study/images for adequacy and makes necessary adjustments.
  • 14. Assures patients and staff are treated in a courteous and professional manner. Exhibits respect and awareness of quality of patient care.
  • 15. Registers patients and answers phones as required.
  • 16. Maintains adequate records as directed including daily QC. Requisitions are properly completed. Registers patients and answers phones as required.
  • 17. Maintains orderliness and cleanliness of the CT Scanner and Radiology rooms.
  • 18. Takes inventory, request and secures all supplies and materials necessary for the CT Scanner and IR rooms.
  • 19. Supervises clinical instruction of assigned student radiographers.
  • 20. Maintains acceptable attendance and punctuality records in compliance with hospital standards.
  • 21. Adhere to the Policy of the Medical Center to ensure that patient information and medical records are treated as confidential, in accordance with applicable state and federal regulations.
Requirements/Qualifications
  1. 1. Minimum formal education of High School Diploma or equivalent.
  2. 2. Radiology Technologists with a valid ARRT certification and a current NY state license.
  3. 3. Is eligible to take the ARRT advance level certification in CT.
  4. 4. If the applicant is a current qualified employee, he/she will pursue and get the ARRT - CT certification with in a period of 12 months from the date of transfer. This is required to maintain the CT position after the 12-month period.
  5. 5. In the absence of applicants from within, qualified candidates will be hired from outside and they will have 12 months from the date of hire to get the CT certification to continue in their position.
  6. 6. Must possess oral and written skills for communicating with patients, physicians, and other staff.
  7. 7. Must possess some degree of independent judgment and discretion in performing procedures.
