Job summary

Townsen Memorial Hospital in Houston is seeking a PRN Radiologic Technologist CT to perform routine and advanced imaging. The technologist operates radiographic equipment, computers, and detectors to produce diagnostic images with precision and safety.

Requirements include graduation from an accredited Radiologic Technology program, Texas MRT license, ARRT-CT certification, BLS, and at least one year of CT experience.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of Radiologic Technology or Associates Degree in Radiology Studies.
• Licensed by the Medical State Board of Texas as a Medical Radiologic Technologist (MRT).
• Certification in CT by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT-CT).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
• One (1) year of experience in CT.

Responsibilities

• Sets up and operate radiographic equipment used in the medical diagnosis and/or treatment of patients.
• Selects proper ionizing factors for radiologic diagnosis.
• Positions patient and set up and adjust equipment to obtain the best quality x-ray of the specific body area requested by the physician.
• Takes preventative steps to minimize radiation exposure to the patient and fellow staff.
• Adjusts and sets radiographic controls, such as kilovoltage and milliamperage, to prescribed specifications for proper timing of exposure.
• Regulates the length and intensity of film exposure.
• Positions and restrains patients; and takes X-rays of patients’ chest, limbs, or other body parts as requested by the physicians.
• Checks X-ray for clarity of image, and retakes X-rays when needed.
• Protect patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols and following drug protocols in case of reactions to drugs, such as contrast media, administering first aid, and using the emergency cart.
• Maintain radiology supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level.
