Job summary

Brown University Health is seeking a CT Technologist to perform computed tomography exams on patients from infants to geriatric. You will operate the CT scanner, prep patients, start IVs, administer contrast, and ensure proper protocols are followed.

The role requires ARRT/RI licensure, CPR certification, and familiarity with PACS/RIS and teleradiology; per diem schedule at Newport Hospital, Newport, RI.

Qualifications

  • High school graduation or equivalent.
  • ARNR (R,CT) registered with current State of RI Radiographer License and current State of Rhode Island Diagnostic Computed Tomography License, or ARRT (CT) with current RI Diagnostic CT License.
  • At least 3 months experience performing routine radiology or CT exams.
  • Current CPR certification.

Responsibilities

  • Perform CT exams for patients of all ages per established protocols.
  • Prepare patients, start IVs, and administer contrast.
  • Set up immobilization devices and operate Power Injector.
  • Select and adjust CT protocols per radiologist requests.
  • Perform reconstructions and segmentation; operate film laser; create CDs.
  • Use PACS, RIS, and teleradiology systems.
  • Schedule patients and ensure preps are distributed.
  • Assist radiologists with abscess drainage and needle biopsies.

Job description

SUMMARY

Performs CT exams and operates the CT Scanner, in addition to performing routine diagnostic radiology procedures. Provides CT services to patients of all ages, including infants, children, adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Perform CT exams on patients of all ages: infants, children, adolescents, adults, geriatric.
  • Demonstrate ability to perform all types of CT exams based on established protocols, including but not limited to: head, abdomen, pelvis, sinus, neck, chest, lumbar spine.
  • Complete Contrast Material Questionnaire to identify prior history of contrast reaction.
  • Prep patients, start an IV, and administer contrast to children, adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients.
  • Set up and utilize immobilization devices for infants, children, adolescents, adults, geriatric patients.
  • Set up and operate Power Injector.
  • Establish and select the proper protocol.
  • Manipulate pre-set protocols to fit the radiologist's requests.
  • Perform special reconstruction and segmentation.
  • Operate Film Laser Camera.
  • Set up oxygen and suction as needed.
  • Use Teleradiology, PACS, and RIS systems.
  • Schedule patients and ensure preps are distributed.
  • Assist radiologists with abscess drainage and needle biopsies.
  • Place service calls.
  • Film exams and create CDs as requested.
  • Perform non-routine views as necessary.
  • Maintain current CPR certification.
  • Perform all daily functions within CT independently, without a second Technologist, if necessary.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

High school graduation or equivalent required.

ARNR (R,CT) registered with current State of RI Radiographer License and current State of Rhode Island Diagnostic Computed Tomography License or ARRT (CT) with current State of Rhode Island Diagnostic Computed Tomography License.

At least 3 months experience performing routine diagnostic radiology or CT exams.

Current CPR certification.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Must be able to sit 7 or more hours, stand/squat 1-3 hours, walk 3-7 hours and lift 10-35 lbs with good body mechanics.
  • Moderate twisting and frequent bending required.
  • Must be able to use both hands and wrists with frequent fine motor movement and moderate repetition.
  • Near vision must be accurate at 20/20, far vision 20/40 and accurate depth perception with minimal color discrimination.
  • Must hear whisper at three feet.
PAY RANGE

$39.56-$65.28
