Job Description

General Summary
Perform a variety of routine and specialized technical procedures with limited supervision. Schedules examinations in accordance with CT protocols and procedures. Maintains a smooth operational and productive workflow.

Principal Responsibilities And Tasks
The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by people assigned to this classification. They are not to be construed as an exhaustive list of all job duties performed by personnel so classified.

Clinical Practice/Patient Care

  • Operates the Tomography Imaging equipment in accordance with standard operating procedures according to the Diagnostic Imaging Department’s P&P manual.
  • Demonstrates clinical competence in Musculoskeletal, Neuro and Body.
  • Demonstrates basic knowledge in computers and information processing, computer applications, image capture, display and storage. Demonstrates the ability to fix studies in the private area in collaboration with IDXRAD.
  • Responds to patient care emergencies.
  • Demonstrates continuing education in CT.
  • Documents QA activities appropriately.
  • Selects protocols as appropriate.
  • Provides patient safety and protection in accordance with federal and state regulatory agencies, accreditation agencies and health care organizations.

Leadership

  • Participates in the scheduling of work with support personnel on their assigned shift.
  • Reviews requests for radiology procedures with the assistance of the radiologist, Radiographer 2/3 or the supervisor when necessary.

Unit Management

  • Notifies Chief Tech/Team Leader of requests for protocol changes.
  • Communicates with clinicians regarding patient preparation for procedures.
  • Complies with established departmental and UMMS standards and practices/procedures.
  • Assists in ensuring unit based products available (i.e. O2 tubing, etc).

Qualifications

  • Graduation from an AMA approved school of Radiologic Technology; registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists; licensed by the Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene is required. CPR certification is required.
  • Knowledge of cross sectional anatomy preferred.
  • Knowledge and understanding of imaging principles and practices.

  • Pay Range: $34.29-$53.23
