Job summary

MedStar Health’s Washington Hospital Center in Kentucky seeks a part-time clerical specialist for Imaging Services - CT Scan. The role provides a variety of moderately complex medical office support to one or more staff members, including scheduling and patient registration.

Night shifts, weekends, and routine billing tasks are included. The successful candidate will transcribe notes, handle prescription requests, maintain files, and assist in exams as needed, requiring basic medical terminology

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 1 to 3 years experience as a secretary preferably in a doctor's office or medical environment.
• Basic medical terminology and secretarial/medical office support training may be required.
• Ability to read/write; attention to grammar and arithmetic.

Responsibilities

• Receives and screens telephone callers and visitors; forwards technical inquiries.
• Schedules patient appointments and coordinates physician calendars.
• Transcribes dictation and types letters, requisitions, reports.
• Answers requests for prescriptions and refills; calls in to pharmacy.
• Performs patient registration and updates records; handles referrals.
• Enters charges into billing system and assists with insurance authorizations.
• Maintains files, mail, and department records; assists in exams when needed.
