We’re a fast‑growing energy efficiency program implementer in the Northeast, leading the way in electrification and heat pump adoption. Our team is fun, kind, passionate, and progressive—and we offer a competitive benefits package to match, including medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurance, a matching 401(k), fully paid parental leave, generous paid time off (more than 30 days a year) and reasonable flexibility in when and where you work. If you’re looking for meaningful work, caring coworkers, and a great company culture, come join us.

Summary / Objective

Building from its core expertise of administering residential energy efficiency programs, Abode implements many utility and government‑sponsored programs helping homeowners and small businesses develop and implement plans to electrify and decarbonize their buildings, while supporting contractors to provide quality decarbonization services. Working alongside the EnergizeCT team, the Connecticut decarbonization advisor will provide a variety of support services virtually and in‑person, including decarbonization consultations, presentations, and trainings. This is a terrific opportunity for someone with a strong background in building science and energy efficiency, and the ability to translate technical jargon into actionable, practical guidance that helps realize the climate benefits of electrification.

Responsibilities
  • Provide virtual consultations to residential customers considering decarbonization solutions, focusing on heat pumps, and guide them on sizing, design and installation to maximize benefits.
  • Engage with heat pump contractors, distributors, manufacturers and customers, meeting up to two times a week virtually or in the field to share program information and learn industry needs.
  • Partner with the team to provide ongoing support to contractors and customers, manage a shared inbox/phone line, respond to inquiries and conduct regular reviews of contractor certifications.
  • Collaborate on the development of program tools and deliver discrete projects, working with internal and external partners to create or improve resources that meet evolving program needs.
  • Stay current with recommended system design and installation standards for heat pumps and provide fact‑based, useful advice.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by the manager, including administrative duties such as answering phone calls, staffing program inboxes and conducting data review.
Qualifications
  • Strong technical expertise in residential and small‑medium commercial building science and energy efficiency, evidenced by a degree in building science, mechanical engineering, sustainability or related fields, and/or industry certifications such as CEM, BPI, LEED or similar credentials.
  • Previous experience in or knowledge of building science from work in utility energy‑efficiency programs, HVAC design or installation, construction or related businesses.
  • Demonstrated aptitude for learning industry jargon and translating it into clear, concise, digestible information.
  • Prior advisory, educational or customer‑service experience providing advice or assistance to customers.
  • Familiarity with navigating government or utility incentive programs.
  • Prior experience working as a contractor or engaging with contractors.
  • Ability to travel within Connecticut as needed; weekly travel expected.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills, with experience in 1:1 interactions and making presentations to groups; fluency in Spanish or Portuguese is an advantage.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Salesforce and energy modeling tools.
  • Calm, even temperament suited to meeting people with different needs and backgrounds.
  • Adaptable, flexible, collaborative team player who brings a positive can‑do attitude.
  • A self‑starter, able to proactively manage competing demands and changing schedules to complete tasks in a timely and diligent manner.
Compensation and Benefits

This is a full‑time, exempt position with a starting salary plus bonus targeted between $70,000 and $80,000, depending on relevant skills and experience. The advisor will work primarily from an employee’s home office, with attendance at in‑person events and meetings across Connecticut and in Abode’s Concord, MA office as required. Abode offers a competitive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurance, a matching 401(k), fully paid parental leave, flexible working schedule and generous paid time off (~30 paid days off).
