Qualifications

About The Providence Center Crisis Stabilization Unit (CSU)

The CSU provides short-term care for patients experiencing an acute psychiatric and/or substance use crisis that could escalate to hospitalization. It serves as an alternative to hospitalization or as a step-down for transitioning between levels of care, focusing on stabilizing clients and addressing their mental health and substance use needs.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Conduct follow-up assessments and evaluate client health care data collected through interviews, observation, record review, and team input.
• Analyze assessment data with the Registered Nurse to develop nursing care plans. Identify expected outcomes individualized to each client, aiming to improve overall health status.
• Administer medications as per prescriber’s orders and monitor lab results as indicated.
• Collaborate with staff members to provide comprehensive care to clients.
• Maintain cooperative relationships with clients, staff, and the public.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Rhode Island licensed LPN required; Registered Nurse preferred.
• Knowledge and experience with psychotropic medications and ability to work well with professionals from other disciplines in a team approach.
• Experience with addiction populations preferred.
• Experience with managed care populations.
