Job summary

Horizon Health in Paris, IL seeks a Surgical Scrub Technician to support the operating room team. The role prepares instruments, supplies, and equipment for procedures and anticipates the needs of the surgeon while maintaining a sterile field.

Responsibilities include assisting with patient preparation, instrument handling, instrument counts, and ensuring equipment readiness. CPR/BLS certification is required, and prior surgical experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Graduate from a surgical technology program accredited by CAAHEP.
• One year of recent surgical experience as a Certified Scrub Technician preferred.
• Current CPR/BLS certification.

Responsibilities

• Sets up the sterile table using proper instruments, packs, and supplies, equipment and medication/solutions needed for the procedure.
• Assists the surgical team in the OR to prepare the patient, the operating table and the surgery area for the procedure.
• Assure that adequate supplies of scrubs, gowns, gloves, etc. are available for the procedure.
• Assists surgeon throughout the procedure with instruments and retraction, always maintaining the highest sterile techniques.
• Responsible for making sure all equipment is working properly on the sterile field, including the assembly of equipment required for the specific surgery.
• Perform appropriate counts with the circulator prior to the surgery and before closing the incision, according to current policy.
• Assists with between case clean-up and proceeds with preparation for the next case.
• Monitors and stocks supplies in the OR and central supply without overstocking.
• Cleans and prepares instrument or terminal sterilization using germicides and sterilizing equipment.
• Complete clinical competency skills where assigned and those where cross trained.

Position Summary

This position functions as a member of the surgical team in the role of scrub person working under the direction of a surgeon. The incumbent prepares the instruments, supplies and equipment necessary for the surgical procedure. The incumbent must understand the procedure and anticipate the needs of the surgeon. He/she must ensure quality patient care during the operative procedure and be constantly vigil of the sterile field.

The responsibilities listed above are not all-inclusive; other activities may be required in support of the hospital's goals and objectives.

Position Requirements

• Graduate from a surgical technology program accredited by CAAHEP for AREC/STSA/ACS.
• One year of recent surgical experience as a Certified Scrub Technician preferred.
• Current CPR/BLS certification

Pay Range

Pay ranges from $21.351/hour to $34.161/hour for an RN (rate of pay is based on applicable years of experience)

Hours: Monday- Friday 7a-330p. Call, with a good balance, typically 4 days per month
