The role includes 24-hour accountability and collaboration with Surgeons and Anesthesia to meet care standards and policy adherence.

Qualified candidates will have RN licensure (IN preferred), a Bachelor's degree, 5 years in Surgical Services, and supervisory experience; CNOR is preferred.

  • Current Registered Nursing License in Indiana with Illinois preferred.
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • Five (5) years of experience in Surgical Services.
  • Two (2) or three (3) years of supervisory experience preferred.
  • Certified Nurse Operating Room (CNOR) preferred.

Responsibilities

Salary Range: $69,903.00 To $111,844.00 Annually

Horizon Health is a Critical Access, Rural Health Facility comprised of 25-inpatient beds located in Paris, IL & a multitude of outpatient clinic settings including Family Practice and Specialty Clinics in Paris and surrounding cities. Position Summary:

The Surgery Center Nursing Care Manager reports to the Director of Surgical Services and is responsible and accountable for delivery of safe, effective, direct, and indirect, patient-family centered care through the continuum of their stay, to include: The Operating Room suite, Endoscopy Suite, and the Sterile Processing Unit. The manager has 24-hour responsibility and accountability for the areas specified. The Nursing Care Manager must work closely with all Surgeons and Physicians and collaborate daily with the Anesthesia Department to include immediate patient care needs and ongoing policy and protocol compliance.

Essential Functions:
  • Promotes the mission, vision, and values of the organization
  • Oversees assigned areas in Surgical Services to ensure operational efficiency, regulatory compliance, and fiscal responsibility
  • Verifies that perioperative personnel provide safe and effective patient-centered care
  • Follows up with customers on complaints within 24 hours, then identifying steps to correct the problem, communicating with staff, implementing plan, and providing feedback to customer using established guidelines
  • Verifies that educational resources are available for perioperative staff and holds them
  • accountable for compliance with established standards of care
  • Coordinates, facilitates, collaborates, and manages any change within perioperative services as well as other areas within the health care institution
  • Assumes assigned responsibilities of the Surgical Director or other Managers of Surgical Services in their absence
  • Collects, analyzes, and reports data related to quality or performance improvement projects
  • Uses effective conflict resolution techniques and keeps the Surgical Director informed of any corrective actions
  • Evaluates staff and works with them on their evaluations of other perioperative personnel and provides ongoing guidance, support and constructive feedback
  • Works with the Director of Surgical Services on recruitment and selection of new perioperative staff
  • Demonstrates ongoing strategies for retention of perioperative staff
  • Verifies departmental compliance with organizational policies and procedures and regulatory and accreditation standards
  • Exhibits professional behavior and demonstrates good interpersonal communication skills
  • Pursues professional growth and participates in a professional organization
  • Acts as a patient advocate and maintains privacy and confidentiality of all appropriate information
  • Assure automated time-keeping system information is up-to-date and accurate for employees within department and submits timecards within established timeframes
  • Provides the Surgical Director with surgeon or staff feedback on necessary purchases of minor or major equipment and supplies
  • Adhere to dress code, appearance is neat and clean
  • Complete annual educational requirements and maintain ACLS/BLS and PALs certifications
  • Consistently represents the organization in a positive and professional manner
  • Complies with all organizational policies and standards regarding ethical business practices
  • Attends and participates in required meetings and committees as assigned
  • Holds regular departmental meetings and in-service for staff

Position Requirements:
  • Current Registered Nursing License in Indiana with Illinois preferred.
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred
  • Five (5) years of experience in Surgical Services required
  • Two (2) or three (3) years of experience in a supervisory role preferred
  • Certified Nurse Operating Room (CNOR) preferred
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to determine appropriate course of action in complex situations
  • Ability to work independently, exercise creativity, be attentive to detail and maintain a positive attitude
  • Ability to manager multiple and simultaneous responsibilities and to prioritize scheduling of work
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of all medical, financial and legal information
  • Ability to complete work assignments accurately and in a timely manner
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
  • Ability to handle difficult situation involving patient’s, physicians or others in a professional manner
Pay Range:

Pay ranges from $69,903k to $111,844k (rate of pay is based on applicable years of experience)
