Sign On Bonus - $2,500 – Non-experienced / New Grad or ProMedica Surgical Tech Intern in Certified Surgical Technician role

Sign On Bonus - $5,000 – 1 to 2 years of experience as a Certified Surgical Technician

Sign On Bonus - $7,500 – Greater than 2 years of experience as a Certified Surgical Technician

The Charles and Virginia Hickman Hospital will provide our community with its first-ever wellness destination. Position Summary:

Prepares operating rooms for surgery, using appropriate techniques. Provides technical services and assists during operative procedures on patients from infants to geriatrics, as assigned and directed.

Accountabilities:

1. Applies the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients/clients served (e.g., infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric).
2. Prepares rooms with appropriate instruments, sutures, supplies, and equipment.
3. Assists the surgical team during operative procedures. Opens sterile supplies and sets up for procedures.
4. Prepares rooms between procedures and after terminal cleaning. Monitors and restocks supplies.
5. Drapes patients for procedures and assists with cases as directed by the physician.
6. Knowledgeable in surgical cases for all services provided.
7. Shares knowledge of scrubbing to educate/mentor peers and new orientees.
8. Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: Graduate of an approved surgical technician program or licensed as LPN in the State of Michigan.

Skills: Must be able to read and speak English, communicate effectively in person, adapt to a changing environment, and be open to new ideas. Ability to input information into computer programs, maintain patient charts, records, logs, use basic math, research information, and operate diagnostic equipment.

Years of Experience: Not applicable.

License: LPN license in Michigan if not a graduate of an approved surgical technician program.

Certification: BCLS and Surgical Technologist (CST) certification if not an LPN. CST certification must be obtained within six months of hire.
