Job summary

The MetroHealth System in Cleveland, OH seeks a CSP Tech III PRN to perform decontamination, preparation, packaging, sterilization and storage of all surgical instruments. You will liaison with OR staff and labor/delivery to ensure proper instrument care and usage, upholding the system's standards.

Requires HS diploma or GED and either Central Service experience or surgical tech certification; CBSPD/IAHCSMM cert or plan to obtain within 6 months is accepted.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Two years experience in a Central Service Department, or completion of a surgical tech program, or current CBSPD/IAHCSMM certification (or obtains within 6 months).
  • Strong communication skills and phone etiquette.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Ability to work independently with strong attention to detail.

  • Decontaminate, prepare, package, sterilize and store surgical instrumentation.
  • Serve as liaison to operating room and labor/delivery teams regarding instrument care and use.

CSP Tech III PRN-Central Sterile Processing (Job ID: 38630)

Location: METROHEALTH MEDICAL CENTER | CLEVELAND, OH

Biweekly Hours: 16.00

Shift: Rotating

Responsible for the decontamination, preparation, packaging, sterilization and storage of all surgical instrumentation including specialty instrumentation requiring intricate assembly and special care. Functions as liaison to the hospital staff, especially the operating room and labor and delivery room concerning the care and use of instruments and supplies. Upholds the mission, vision, values, and customer service standards of The MetroHealth System.

Qualifications

Required:

  • High school diploma or passage of a high school equivalency exam.
  • Possesses one of the following:
    • Two years experience in a Central Service Department, including one year experience in surgical instrument set assembly.
    • Completion of a surgical technician program.
    • Current certification – Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD) or International Association of Healthcare Central Service Materiel Management (IAHCSMM) Current sterile processing/Central Service certification, or obtains within 6 months of employment.
  • Good communication skills and phone etiquette.
  • Knowledgeable in medical terminology.
  • Ability to work independently and self-guided with a strong attention to detail.

Preferred:

  • Basic PC skills.
  • Experience with a materials management or operating room information system.
  • Experience with instrument tracking system.
Physical Requirements
  • May sit, stand, stoop, bend, and ambulate intermittently during the day.
  • May need to sit or stand for extended periods.
  • See in the normal visual range with or without correction.
  • Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction.
  • Ability to push/pull 350 pounds.
  • Ability to lift 35 pounds.
  • Requires some exposure to communicable diseases or body fluids.
  • Requires some exposure to chemicals.
