The Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) at Texas A&M is currently one of 15 departments in the College of Engineering. Many of the 57 tenured/tenure-track faculty and 28 teaching-focused faculty hold numerous national distinctions, including AAAI, ACM, IEEE, AAAS, SIAM Fellows, and ACM Distinguished Scientists and Engineers. The department has a strong and vibrant research program, with half the faculty having received NSF CAREER awards. CSE faculty have strong collaborations across Texas A&M in data science, health, cybersecurity, and national security, including through the Institute of Data Science, the Center for Remote Health Technologies and Systems, the Global Cyber Research Institute, the Cybersecurity Center and the Bush Combat Development Complex. Texas A&M has recently invested $100 million in next-generation computing infrastructure through two major initiatives: VISION, a $45 million NVIDIA DGX SuperPOD with 760 NVIDIA H200 GPUs currently ranked as the fastest university supercomputer in the United States, and IGNITE, a $55 million AI and high-performance computing platform (arriving 2026/2027) with 320 liquid-cooled AMD Instinct MI355X GPUs to support large-scale research in national security, scientific discovery, and engineering. Together, these systems provide exceptional resources for cutting-edge AI and computing research. Our student population comprises nearly 1,700 undergraduate students (sophomores to seniors) and 700 graduate students. The department is housed in the Peterson Building, with airy modern offices, conference rooms, and lounges equipped with state-of-the- art A/V technology.
