The Department of Computer Science at The University of Texas atAustin invites applications for tenure-track faculty positions. Weare accepting applications from outstanding candidates in all areasof computer science.

In addition to all core areas within CS, we encourage candidateswith strong technical grounding in computer science whose workcreates opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration,including potential partial or joint appointments in otherdepartments at The University of Texas at Austin. As part of UTAustin's School of Computing, Computer Science has close ties withthe Department of Statistics and Data Sciences and the Departmentof Information, creating additional opportunities for jointappointments and cross-disciplinary research. We are alsoparticularly interested in candidates advancing AI for Science, aswell as those working specifically at the intersection of computerscience with neuroscience, biology, or medicine.

All interdisciplinary candidates are encouraged to sendapplications to all relevant departments for better university-widecoordination. The department is ranked among the top computer science departmentsin the country. It has 64 tenured and tenure-track faculty membersacross all areas of computer science. Beginning in Fall 2026,Computer Science will be one of three founding academic units in UTAustin's new School of Computing, alongside Statistics and DataScience and Information. The new School is designed to strengthencollaboration and create new opportunities for cross-departmentalresearch and education. Many faculty also participate ininterdisciplinary programs and centers across the University,including Texas Robotics, the Machine Learning Laboratory, theInstitute on Foundations of Machine Learning (an NSF AI Institute),Learning Directed Operating Systems (NSF Expeditions in Computing),the Center for Generative AI, the Good Systems Grand Challenge onEthical AI, the Texas Advanced Computing Center (TACC), and theOden Institute for Computational Engineering and Science.
