Job summary

The Farley Center seeks a Counselor for a full-time role in Williamsburg, VA. The position requires CSAC-S or higher licensure and supports clients in recovery from addictions and mental health disorders. Primary duties include assessments, treatment planning, counseling, and family education on evidence-based modalities.

Onsite work, Sun-Thu 8:30am-5:00pm, with benefits after 30 days, tuition assistance, and a comprehensive benefits package. Veterans and military spouses encouraged to apply.

Qualifications

• Requires a minimum of a bachelor's degree in social services, addiction, mental health or closely related health services field. Degree must be from an accredited college or university.
• Professional experience is not required, but experience in counseling field instruction/internship or similar practicum training is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conducts client assessments focused on identifying client history, current presentation, problem areas, ongoing clinical need for treatment and risk assessment.
• Conducts ongoing assessments of chemical dependence services required by the treatment program.
• Participates in and prepares client treatment planning and treatment plan progress reviews as assigned and documents as required.
• Conducts assigned group counseling, individual or family sessions and implements evidence-supported treatment modalities as assigned and documents as required.
• Provides client and family education relative to substance abuse/psychiatric problems.
• Ensures all documentation regarding client care, treatment and incidents is completed timely and in a clear, concise manner.
• Provides crisis intervention to clients, as needed, and seeks consultation as appropriate.
• Plans for and completes required documentation of aftercare for assigned clients.
• Acts as a liaison with insurance carriers, as requested.
• Provides case management duties for clients, ensuring individualized quality care.
• Conducts educational workshops both within the Hospital and in the community as required.
• Serves as a liaison with self-help groups and EAP professionals.
