Job summary

Vabode by SMARTS Recovery in Richmond, Virginia is seeking a Certified Substance Abuse Counselor (CSAC) to facilitate ASAM 2.1 Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) services. The counselor will lead ASAM 2.1 group counseling and ASAM 3.1 SUD counseling daily, providing evidence-based interventions for substance use, relapse prevention, recovery skills, and coping strategies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in a related field preferred.
• Substance use disorder counseling experience preferred.
• Experience facilitating behavioral health or SUD groups preferred.
• Knowledge of SUD, recovery principles, relapse prevention, and behavioral health treatment.
• Ability to maintain accurate clinical documentation.
• Ability to work effectively with individuals with SUD and co-occurring concerns.

Responsibilities

• Group Counseling: Facilitate ASAM Level 2.1 group counseling sessions and provide structured, evidence-based group interventions.
• Individualized Clinical Services: Review assessments and contribute to treatment plans; provide individual SUD counseling when assigned.
• Documentation: Complete timely and clinically appropriate counseling documentation.
• Care Coordination and Team Collaboration: Participate in multidisciplinary meetings and coordinate with other providers; support continuity of care.
