Job summary

Southern Union State Community College invites applications for an instructional position designed to promote intellectual growth across courses and modalities. The instructor will plan, instruct, and assess coursework while maintaining LMS-based gradebooks and syllabi.

The role requires a Master’s degree with CS coursework; online teaching experience is preferred, and commitment to service, professional development, and student mentorship is expected. Nine-month employment with benefits.

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution with a minimum of 18 graduate semester or 27 graduate quarter hours in Computer Science is required.
• Experience with LMS such as Canvas or Blackboard is preferred.
• Willingness to meet requirements for certification as required by accreditation entities.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, and instruct coursework.
• Develop, implement, and evaluate curriculum with Department Chair/Program Director.
• Maintain updated syllabi, outcomes, and gradebooks in the LMS.
• Select textbooks and teaching materials in collaboration with colleagues.
• Use varied delivery modes: face-to-face, hybrid, online.
• Provide academic and career counseling to students and promote leadership.
• Develop tests and tools for student evaluation, and design assessments.
• Develop and deliver online courses meeting Quality Matters guidelines.
• Engage in community service and professional development.
