Job summary

Amazon Science, working through the Amazon Center for Quantum Computing team in Pasadena, seeks a Research Engineer specializing in cryogenic hardware design. You will own end-to-end development, drive EMI/thermal performance improvements, and collaborate across teams to deliver scalable quantum hardware solutions.

The role requires a strong background in cryogenic mechanical engineering, FEA, and SolidWorks, with experience across full product lifecycle from requirements to testing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or above in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, material science, physics or equivalent.
• Bachelor's degree with 6+ years of relevant experience, Master’s with 5+ years relevant experience, or PhD with 2+ years relevant experience.
• Experience with cryogenic mechanical design and product development lifecycle
• Knowledge with design for manufacturing
• Expertise with Finite Element Analysis (Thermal, Mechanical, EM) and 3D CAD (SolidWorks)

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end product development through requirements, design reports, design reviews, assembly/testing documentation, and final delivery.
• High-density packaging solutions for quantum processor units.
• Cryogenic mechanical design for signal conditioning sub-assemblies.
• Cryogenic mechanical design for signal delivery systems.
• Simulation-driven designs to reduce EMI within the qubit environment.
• Work cross-functionally in a fast-paced, startup-like environment.
