Job summary

Fann Contracting, Inc., Northern Arizona’s leading heavy-civil contractor, seeks a Crusher Mechanic's Assistant to join our team in Prescott, AZ. The role focuses on maintaining mobile crushing plants, diagnosing issues, and performing preventive maintenance to keep production on schedule.

The position is safety-sensitive and involves outdoor work, potential night shifts, and occasional travel within Arizona. CDL preferred; a CDL Medical Card may be required within the first month of employment.

Qualifications

  • 4+ years of technical/mechanical repair experience preferred for mobile crushers and related equipment.
  • Knowledge of MSHA/OSHA training is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Safely perform maintenance and preventive maintenance on crusher plants and related equipment.
  • Assist with regular mobilization/relocation of Crusher Plant(s).
  • Diagnose and repair components such as jaws, conveyors, belts, guards, generators, and motors.
  • Escalate problems to Lead Mechanic or Superintendents when needed.
  • Work outdoors in various weather conditions and comply with MSHA regulations.

Job description

Fann Contracting, Inc - Northern Arizona’s leading heavy-civil and heavy-highway contractor - is searching for an experienced Crusher Mechanic's Assistant to join our team. Hourly pay may range from $25.15 to $38.60 depending upon experience, overtime and travel pay. This is a permanent, full time position in Arizona offering competitive weekly pay and great company benefits. Typical schedule may vary but hours will be from 40 to 60 per week depending upon the repair requirements or job schedule.

Fann is a family-owned 65 year company specializes in mass excavation, rock handling, underground utilities, private and public infrastructure, asphalt paving, aggregate crushing, hot asphalt hot plant production, and much more. Our projects include public and private entities including ADOT, FHWA, BIA, city and county municipalities, private residential and commercial developments.

Crusher Plant Maintenance Mechanic Summary

The successful candidate will work under another mechanic to maintain aggregates crushing plants, diagnose, repair, and preventively maintain our Mobile Crushing Plants throughout Arizona (home base in Prescott).

In this SAFETY SENSITIVE POSITION*, you will work on time critical repairs during the day or evening/night shift hours so that production is uninterrupted. This will include all aspects of crusher jaws, conveyors & Belts, Safety guards, electrical generators and motors. A clean driving record is required as you may occasionally drive a company vehicle. Candidates with a CDL are preferred however a CDL Medical Card will be necessary because of the size vehicle you may drive. If you do not currently have a CDL Medical Card, you should be prepared to be able to acquire one with the first month of employment.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  • Must safely work under MSHA regulations and company drug testing policies.
  • Tools are provided but you may need to have some of your own basic tools.
  • Knowledge and practice with plant lock out- tag out, confined spaces & risk assessment protocols.
  • Position requires working outdoors in all types of weather and conditions.
  • Work often includes exposure to petroleum based or other MSDS chemicals.
  • Documents system problems and preventative maintenance schedule in MSHA site log.
  • Escalate problem solving by communicating with the Lead Mechanic, Materials/Crusher Superintendents.
  • Calmly handles problems in a professional manner during high-pressure situations.
  • Responsible for assisting with regular mobilization/relocation of Crusher Plant(s).
  • Ability to work weekends and/or some holidays to accommodate production/project needs.
  • Overnight travel within the state of Arizona is required (Subsistence typically included).
  • You must have the ability to work at heights with ladders, safety harnesses, in confined spaces, in around or under equipment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Minimum 4 years of technical/mechanical repair experience with mobile crushers, asphalt hot plants and screens.
  • Must be able to fabricate, weld, use cutting torch and other metal working tools.
  • Repair knowledge of heavy support equipment such as loaders, trucks etc. helpful.
  • Computer literate with previous MSHA/OSHA training necessary.
  • Logical trouble shooting skills and capabilities to isolate and attack problems.
  • Solid knowledge of AC/DC power distribution including high voltage diesel generators.
  • Ability to work with electric schematics, diagrams and mechanical drawings.
  • Employees must hold a Valid Driver’s License w/clean driving record.
  • Versatility and being a highly skilled production loader, Dozer, Excavator, Hammer Hoe operator would definitely lead to a higher degree of success.
  • Should be willing to constructively train others and lead subordinates.

Competitive hourly wage is based upon experience (DOE). WE PAY WEEKLY WITH DIRECT DEPOSIT. We'll send your check right to your bank -or- provide you with a Visa Pay Card for convenience. Tax-free Subsistence (travel pay) of $70 to $90 per day may also be available for most assignments when you travel for work. Benefits include medical, dental, voluntary vision and life insurance, paid vacation, paid sick time, 401k and profit sharing/bonus program.
