Job summary

Western Rock Products in St. George, UT is seeking a Crusher Maintenance Technician to inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair crushing and screening equipment in our aggregate operation.

Ideal candidate has strong mechanical aptitude, safety focus, and 3–5+ years' experience with jaw, cone, and impact crushers; familiarity with CMMS systems is a plus, and welding skills are welcome.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 3–5+ years of crusher maintenance, aggregate operations, mining, or heavy equipment repair preferred.
  • Experience with crushing and screening equipment (jaw/cone/impact crushers) strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine preventative maintenance on crushers, screens, conveyors, feeders, and related equipment.
  • Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues and perform repairs.
  • Replace wear parts such as liners, belts, bearings, rollers, and screens.
  • Conduct inspections to identify potential failures and troubleshoot to minimize downtime.
  • Follow safety policies and MSHA regulations; maintain maintenance logs.
  • Coordinate with plant operators and supervisors; assist with startups, shutdowns, and changesovers.
  • Perform basic to advanced welding and fabrication as needed for repairs; assist with inventory control.
  • Identify opportunities to improve maintenance practices and plant efficiency.

Crusher Maintenance Tech - St. George, UT (Maintenance)

Position Overview

The Crusher Maintenance Technician is responsible for the inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of crushing and screening equipment used in aggregate production operations. This role is critical to ensuring maximum equipment uptime, operational efficiency, and safe production of high-quality materials. The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, safety-focused, and experienced in working with heavy equipment in a mining or aggregate environment.

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties & Functions)
Equipment Maintenance & Repair
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance on crushers, screens, conveyors, feeders, and associated equipment
  • Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues and perform timely repairs
  • Replace wear parts including liners, belts, bearings, rollers, and screens
Inspection & Troubleshooting
  • Conduct daily and periodic inspections to identify potential equipment failures
  • Troubleshoot and resolve production issues to minimize downtime
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and inspection logs
Safety & Compliance
  • Follow all company safety policies and MSHA regulations
  • Participate in safety meetings, hazard assessments, and job safety analyses
  • Ensure proper lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures are followed during maintenance activities
Plant Operations Support
  • Work closely with plant operators and supervisors to coordinate maintenance activities
  • Assist with plant startups, shutdowns, and changeovers
  • Monitor equipment performance and make recommendations for improvements
Welding & Fabrication
  • Perform basic to advanced welding, cutting, and fabrication as needed for equipment repair
  • Assist with modifications to improve equipment efficiency and longevity
Parts & Inventory Management
  • Assist in identifying and ordering replacement parts and maintaining appropriate inventory levels
  • Track usage of wear parts and recommend stocking levels
Continuous Improvement
  • Identify opportunities to improve maintenance practices, reduce downtime, and enhance safety
  • Support plant efficiency and cost-control initiatives
Qualifications
Education/Experience
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • 3-5+ years of experience in crusher maintenance, aggregate operations, mining, or heavy equipment repair preferred
  • Prior experience with crushing and screening equipment (e.g., jaw, cone, impact crushers) strongly preferred
Knowledge/Skills
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, and mechanical systems
  • Experience with conveyors, motors, gearboxes, and bearings
  • Welding and fabrication skills preferred
  • Ability to read and interpret equipment manuals, schematics, and technical drawings
  • Familiarity with preventative maintenance programs and CMMS systems is a plus
