Job summary

OSM Thome is seeking an experienced Oiler to join the engine team on a cruise ship. You will stand engine watch, operate and maintain lubrication, and monitor machinery spaces while reporting issues to the Engineering Officer on Watch.

The role requires STCW III/5 certification, at least 12 months shipboard experience as an Oiler, and good English. Rotation is 6 months on / 2 months off, with travel and full onboard provisions provided by the employer.

Qualifications

  • Certificate of Competency STCW reg: III/5 certification is required.
  • Basic Training Certificates as per STCW standard.
  • At least 12 months shipboard experience as Oiler.
  • High School Diploma or technical training.
  • English language proficiency.
  • Strong focus on ships safety management.
  • Adherence to Carnival's Occupational and Health policies.

Responsibilities

  • Stands Engine watch as instructed by the Senior Engine Officers.
  • Operating and maintaining lubrication in machinery spaces.
  • During the watch, supervise Machinery spaces and report malfunctions to the Engineering Officer on watch.
  • Dedicate attention to Bilge condition; perform cleaning and maintenance under supervision.
  • Performs Engine spaces cleaning and paintings including bilges as directed by Chief Motorman.
  • Read gauges (temperature and pressure) and record readings in logs.
  • Participate in safety drills and training.
