Job summary

AVONDALE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL DISTRICT is seeking a Crossing Guard to help ensure the safety of students crossing roadways around schools. The role focuses on guiding children at crosswalks and ensuring compliance with traffic signals in a busy school environment.

The ideal candidate will possess a valid IVP fingerprint clearance card and be able to pass a background check, with strong communication skills and the ability to escort students safely.

Qualifications

• Must possess a valid Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance card.
• Must be able to pass a background check.
• Must have great communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Must be able to escort students safely across thoroughfares.
• Must be able to work a split shift.

Responsibilities

• Assists children through intersections and thoroughfares at established crosswalks
• Instructs children in appropriate signals and directs them in accordance with traffic signals
• Alerts motorists to the presence of children by displaying appropriate signs
• Places and removes school zone signs
• Reports motorists who violate school zone traffic laws to appropriate supervisor
• Must use good judgment when making decisions that impact the safety and care for students and adults
• Performs other related duties as assigned
