Job summary

Danvers Public Schools is seeking crossing guards for the upcoming school year to help keep student pedestrians safe during school commute times.

The positions are part-time, approximately 10 hours per week, with shifts in the morning and afternoon at various school sites. Applicants must be able to pass a CORI check and fingerprinting and comply with safety procedures in all weather conditions.

Qualifications

• Must have a valid driver’s license and be willing to undergo CORI check and fingerprinting.
• Must be able to stand/walk for extended periods in various weather conditions.
• High School or Trade School degree is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Ensure pedestrian safety as children cross streets at designated corners.
• Report to corners 10 minutes before AM/PM shifts and remain at assigned corner during shifts.
• Signaling with the stop sign to halt traffic when children cross and maintain safe, orderly crossings.

Job Description

Danvers Public Schools is looking to hire crossing guards for the upcoming school year.

School Crossing Guards are part-time personnel (approximately 10) hours/week employed by the Danvers Public Schools

General Responsibilities

• The Crossing Guard plays a critical role in the safety and security of child pedestrians.
• All applicants shall submit to a CORI check and fingerprints as a condition of employment
• All Crossing Guards should report to their corners at least 10 minutes before you're AM and PM hours and be standing at your assigned corner NO MATTER what the weather is.
• If you are sick or have an emergency situation, you are required to let Officer Ryan Greene know with at least 1 hour notice.
• Applicants must be able to perform the physical demands of the job which consist of walking and standing up for periods of an hour, in a variety of weather conditions.
• When stopping traffic to allow children to cross, ensure that it can be accomplished in a safe and orderly manner before signaling with the stop sign.
• Be familiar with Danvers Public School calendars for when children will be dismissed early.
• During your shift (AM & PM) smoking and cell phone use are prohibited.
• Under no circumstance shall a crossing guard offer transportation to a student

Crossing Guard Hours

• DHS and HRMS 6:30am to 7:30am &1:30pm to 2:30pm
• Elementary Schools 7:30am to 8:30am & 2:30pm to 3:30pm
