Definition
Maintain control of children and vehicular traffic at crossing sites to ensure that children cross safely at designated sites.
Scope Of Duties
Direct actions of children at street intersections to ensure safe crossing.
Record license numbers of vehicles disregarding traffic signals and report infractions to the police.
Observe vehicles and pedestrians near school crosswalks to report suspicious activity.
Notify authorities of uncooperative or abusive children.
Maintain regular and predictable attendance (aiming for 2 excused absences per year).
Follow all safety regulations, policies, and procedures.
Report unsafe conditions immediately to the supervisor, or by the end of the shift if necessary.
Provide exceptional customer service to promote a positive image and foster a professional environment.
Supervision
Reports to Andy Frain Services' Field Supervisor.
Exercises no supervision of others.
Qualifications and Requirements
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Knowledge of community geography and important local landmarks.
Ability to analyze situations objectively and report clearly.
React calmly and quickly in emergencies.
Good intelligence, emotional stability, and tactful communication skills.
Minimum age of 18.
Physically capable of performing duties in all weather conditions.
Able to read, interpret, and write in English.
Attend a mandatory School Crossing Guard class.
Tools required include Stop Paddle, Reflective Vest, Whistle, and optional equipment such as rain gear, gloves, first aid kit, and traffic cones.
