City of Rock Island is seeking a School Crossing Guard to help students safely cross busy streets near designated crossings. Under supervision, you will direct pedestrians, provide directions to citizens, and assist younger students during arrival and dismissal times.

You will monitor crossing areas for hazards, communicate clearly with students, parents, and school personnel, and report any safety concerns to the supervisor.

Formación

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Valid Illinois Driver's License or access to transportation.
• Be able to respond to a job site within 30 minutes of notification.

• Aid in traffic control when needed; report any chronically bad driver or vehicular violation to school crossing guard supervisor.

• Communicate effectively.
• Report student safety infractions.
• Assist children in crossing intersections on the way to and from school at assigned times

Typical Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent GED, or training and experience will also be considered. Must demonstrate aptitude or competence for assigned responsibilities.

Must have and maintain throughout duration of employment a valid Illinois Driver's License or access to transportation to job sites and be able to respond to a job site within thirty (30) minutes of being notified.
