Job summary

Grand Sierra Resort in Reno is seeking a courteous Guest Services/Cashier to greet and seat guests, manage reservations, and process payments with accuracy. You will coordinate with service staff and kitchen to ensure smooth seating, speedy turn times, and compliance with safety and sanitation standards, while delivering an exceptional guest experience.

Previous cashiering experience is preferred and you will work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

Responsibilities

  • Greet and seat guests using department greeting and service steps.
  • Manage reservations and confirm upcoming bookings.
  • Manage waitlist with accurate wait time estimates.
  • Address guest inquiries.
  • Handle payments (cash, cards, room charges) and balance transactions.
  • Make deposits and balance bank; complete cashier paperwork.
  • Interact professionally with guests and team members.
  • Communicate special requests with management and staff.
  • Assist turnover of tables to speed seating.
  • Take to-go orders with condiments.
  • Follow guest service guidelines and resort policies.
  • Maintain safe, healthy work environment per sanitation standards.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  • Greeting and seat guests by utilizing department greeting and steps of service.
  • Manage reservations including calling and confirming upcoming reservations.
  • Manage waitlist by providing accurate wait time estimates.
  • Address guest inquires.
  • Receive payment from guests in the form of cash, credit cards, and room charges and comp slips; make changes as needed, verify validity of charges, record charges and ensure vouchers are properly executed to accurately balance all monetary transactions.
  • Make deposits/cash drops, complete appropriate cashier paperwork/reports, balance and secure bank.
  • Interact with team members and guests in a professional and polite manner including complaints and concerns are effectively handled.
  • Communicate special requests with management, service staff, and culinary team.
  • Assist the support team to turn tables faster by resetting them quickly and efficiently.
  • Take to-go orders and ensure the orders are packed with the required condiments.
  • Support and maintain Grand Sierra Resort guest service guidelines and other policies and procedures.
  • Help maintain safe and healthy work environment by following organization standards and sanitation regulations.
  • Any other duties as assigned within the scope of this position.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
  • Deal with guests and team members in a tactful and respectful manner.
  • Ability of simple reading, math, writing and task completion skills is required.
  • Must have the following skills: coordination, supervising, following instructions, problem solving, independent judgment, and decision making.
  • Flexible working all shifts including holidays, nights, and weekend hours as business needs dictate.
  • Must be a minimum of 16 years of age.
EDUCATION And/or EXPERIENCE
  • Previous cashiering experience is preferred or any combination of education, training, or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • While performing the duties of this job, the team member is constantly standing, frequently walking and balancing, and occasionally bending over during the duration of their shift.
  • Must be able to occasionally lift/carry and push/pull up to 10lbs.
  • The team members will constantly have repetitive use of both hands and occasional light and firm/strong grasping motions.
  • Constant use of vision abilities is required including distance, depth perception, field of vision, and color vision.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
  • Work performed indoors, alone and frequently with and around others. Team Member will perform work face-to-face including verbal contact with others on extended shifts around computer equipment and other mechanical devices.

  • Team Member may be exposed to slippery surfaces, fumes/odor and secondhand smoke.
