General Summary
Under limited supervision by the Location General Manager (LGM), the position is responsible for leading and developing a team of 10-15 cross-functional associates to deliver a world-class selling experience to CarMax customers. This manager actively participates in the sales process and fosters a culture of learning by driving training to support the CarMax sales process. The manager oversees various store operating processes and procedures to exceed sales goals and ensure effective execution of CarMax policies.
Principle Duties And Responsibilities
- Achieves store budgets and performance metrics based on corporate guidelines.
- Plans daily business activities based on volume and staffing, ensuring associates have the necessary tools and training.
- Analyzes and reports store business results to the LGM and other managers.
- Adjusts staffing levels as needed based on business needs.
- Opens and closes the store per schedule, providing management coverage.
- Manages key business areas and operational procedures, leading cross-functional teams and resolving issues.
- Maintains positive associate relations, supports development, and provides timely feedback.
- Handles associate hiring, training, and promotion to support store growth.
- Leads training across business areas to enhance customer experience and operational effectiveness.
- Partners with and develops associates to resolve customer issues.
- Responds to customer feedback through various channels.
- Collaborates with departments and regional teams as needed.
- Ensures adherence to asset protection and risk management processes.
- Executes Area of Responsibility (AOR) duties following company guidelines.
- Manages cash and transaction paperwork related to vehicle sales and purchases.
- Identifies opportunities to reduce waste and improve processes.
- Follows all company policies, including risk management and safety standards.
- Performs duties reporting to the LGM and demonstrates financial responsibility through P&L management.
- Utilizes CarMax software and media effectively.
- Complies with all relevant regulations.
- Possesses a valid driver's license meeting CarMax safety criteria.
