Job summary

The Advanced Practice Nurse (CRNA) delivers specialized anesthesia care to Veterans at the San Francisco VA Medical Center. Responsibilities include pre-anesthesia assessment, anesthesia care planning, administration and monitoring of anesthesia, and post-anesthesia care and pain management.

Collaborating with anesthesiologists, surgeons, nurses, and proceduralists, the CRNA exercises sound clinical judgment to handle varying patient complexities and perioperative emergencies.

Qualifications

• Requires full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory.
• Clinical judgment in managing patients with varying levels of medical complexity.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with anesthesiologists, surgeons, proceduralists, nurses and other team members to ensure safe, Veteran-centered care.
• Perform comprehensive pre-anesthesia assessments and develop individualized anesthesia care plans.
• Provide anesthesia services for inpatient and outpatient surgical and procedural patients.
• Administer and manage general, regional, local, intravenous, and monitored anesthesia care as appropriate.
• Maintain monitoring and airway management, including intubation and emergency airway interventions when needed.
• Provide post-anesthesia care including recovery assessment, pain management and disposition.
