Job summary

Medical University of South Carolina is seeking a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist to provide anesthesia care for a diverse patient population. The CRNA administers anesthetics in coordination with the attending anesthesiologist, operates anesthesia equipment, and ensures proper patient transport and record-keeping.

Applicants must hold a master’s degree in Nurse Anesthesia, be certified/recertified by NBCRNA, and maintain current BLS.

Qualifications

• Must graduate from a Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Education Programs approved program.
• Master’s degree, concentration in Nurse Anesthesia, required for hires after 2019.
• Current competency in clinical privileges and ability to operate anesthesia equipment.
• Knowledge of safety and universal precautions in patient care.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with surgeons, anesthesia staff, and nursing.

Responsibilities

• Provide anesthesia care to a wide variety of patients in consultation with the attending anesthesiologist.
• Administer appropriate anesthetics per standards of practice.
• Assist in transport of patients and maintain accurate patient records.
• Participate in department teaching and continuing education activities.
• Demonstrate professionalism in all duties and resuscitative care as indicated.
