Qualifications

• Registered Nurse license issued by the state
• Nurse Anesthetist certification (CRNA)
• Advanced Practice Nurse Prescriber license (APNP)
• DEA registration
• NRP certification (AHA/AAP)
• PALS certification (AHA) required within 6 months
• ACLS certification required within 6 months

Responsibilities

• Assembles supplies and administers anesthetics prior to procedures.
• Monitors patient vital signs during and after anesthesia and takes remedial action as needed.
• Submits postoperative reports and maintains records of anesthetics administered.
• Provides general, regional, and monitored anesthesia care, including induction and maintenance.
• Performs pre-anesthetic examinations and ensures readiness of equipment and supplies.
• Conducts post-anesthesia care and manages post-operative analgesia in collaboration with the surgeon.
• Manages narcotic accounting and responds to emergencies per physician direction.
• Assists with difficult IV insertions and may administer anesthesia under supervision.
