Qualifications

• Master's degree from a school of nurse anesthesia accredited by the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists (AANA).
• APRN license in the state of practice is required.
• Certification through the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists (AANA) is required.
• BCLS certification from the American Heart Association.

Responsibilities

• Documents patient procedures and incidents.
• Assesses patient before, during, and after administering anesthesia.
• Ensures patient safety and administers anesthesia following accepted practice techniques.
• Acts as a liaison to surgeons, anesthesiologists, co-workers, patients, and families.
• Participates in department quality assurance initiatives and professional development.
