Aircraft: Bombardier CRJ200 (CL-65), 30-seat VIP configuration

Position: Captain / Pilot in Command

Employment Type: Full-Time

About Us

Since June 2008, Waltzing Matilda Aviation has provided private jet charter and aircraft management from our home at Laurence G. Hanscom Field in Bedford, Massachusetts. Our reputation comes from one simple commitment: every guest arrives safely, comfortably, and ready for whatever brought them aboard.

We’re expanding our fleet and operations to include the CRJ200 aircraft, and we’re looking for exceptional flight crew to help in this launch.

Our CRJ200 is appointed for comfort and operated at a high luxurious standard unique to this fleet type. Every detail of the trip matters, and the folks on the flight deck set that tone.

At Waltzing Matilda, we believe luxury and safety are not competing goals. Every flight begins with disciplined planning and ends with a guest who wants to fly with us again. We’re looking for Captains and First Officers who hold themselves to that standard in the cockpit and carry it into the cabin: professionals who take pride in precise flying, sound judgment, and genuine hospitality.

If you want to be part of a growing operation and get in on the ground floor of this exciting opportunity, we’d like to hear from you.

Position Summary

The CRJ200 Captain is responsible for the safe, efficient, and professional conduct of every flight under 14 CFR Part 135 and company operations specifications. As Pilot in Command, you will lead the crew, make sound operational decisions, and serve as the face of our flight department to a high-net-worth clientele. The ideal candidate is a CRJ200 type-rated, with recent experience within the last two years, and a proven safety record and the polish, warmth, and judgment of a hospitality professional.

Key Responsibilities
Flight Operations and Safety
  • Serve as Pilot in Command of the CRJ200, with final authority for the safe operation of the aircraft in accordance with 14 CFR Parts 91 and 135, the company General Operations Manual (GOM), and approved SOPs.
  • Conduct thorough preflight planning, including weather analysis, NOTAMs, fuel planning, weight and balance, takeoff and landing performance, and runway analysis for resort-area and regional airports.
  • Complete risk assessments (FRAT) for each trip and exercise sound go/no-go judgment without regard to commercial or schedule pressure.
  • Lead the crew through standardized briefings and maintain a high level of Crew Resource Management (CRM) and Threat and Error Management (TEM).
  • Actively participate in the company Safety Management System (SMS), including hazard reporting, ASAP/voluntary reporting programs, and safety meetings.
  • Monitor aircraft condition and airworthiness; accurately complete logbook entries, discrepancy write-ups, flight logs, and trip records.
  • Comply with all flight, duty, and rest requirements under Part 135 Subpart F.
  • Ensure security, hazardous materials, and passenger briefing requirements are met on every flight.
Guest Experience
  • Greet guests personally, deliver a professional and welcoming passenger briefing, and remain attentive to guest needs throughout the trip.
  • Coordinate with the resort concierge, FBOs, catering, ground transportation, and cabin staff to deliver a seamless door-to-door experience.
  • Handle golf bags, luggage, and special items with care, and confirm proper loading and securing.
  • Communicate delays, weather, or schedule changes promptly, clearly, and courteously.
  • Maintain absolute discretion and confidentiality regarding guests, their travel, and their conversations.
  • Present a clean, well-groomed appearance in company uniform and ensure the aircraft cabin is immaculate before each departure.
Leadership and Professional Standards
  • Mentor and support First Officers and cabin crew, fostering a respectful, safety-first team culture.
  • Complete all initial, recurrent, and company-required training, checkrides (Part 135.293, 135.297, 135.299), and line checks to standard.

  • A natural host who makes every guest feel recognized and cared for.
  • A calm, decisive leader who brings out the best in the crew.
  • Someone who takes pride in the details — a perfect landing, a spotless cabin, a guest's name remembered.
