If you are passionate about creating real solutions that help businesses with cutting-edge technology, want to be challenged to think out of the box and be in a position where you can impact change on a daily basis, then LightEdge can offer you a dynamic corporate environment built on teamwork and personal responsibility.

The Critical Systems Administrator – BMS/BAS & Video Management is the technical owner for the company’s building management, building automation, and video-management systems, including security camera infrastructure, across all data center locations.

This hands-on role provides first-line and advanced support, systems administration, troubleshooting, vendor coordination, and lifecycle management for these systems. The position is responsible for resolving incidents and requests, maintaining reliable and secure platforms, and improving the standards, documentation, monitoring, workflows, and automation that support them.

A primary objective of the role is to consolidate fragmented systems and processes, reduce recurring incidents and manual work, and establish a more consistent and supportable operating model across all locations.

Core Responsibilities:
BMS/BAS Platform Ownership
  • Administer, maintain, update, and troubleshoot all company BMS/BAS platforms, including Tridium Niagara, WebCTRL, Metasys, or comparable systems.
  • Provide first-line and advanced support for BMS incidents, requests, alarms, configuration issues, communication failures, and application problems.
  • Manage environmental monitoring, controls, alarms, schedules, trends, graphics, points, users, permissions, integrations, and site configuration.
  • Troubleshoot supervisory servers, services, certificates, authentication, network connectivity, gateways, controllers, and related infrastructure.
  • Distinguish platform, network, integration, controller, sensor, and field-device issues; coordinate specialized support when needed.
  • Maintain platform inventories, licensing, lifecycle status, support contacts, dependencies, recovery procedures, and technical documentation.
Video Management Systems (VMS) and Camera Infrastructure
  • Administer and troubleshoot enterprise Video Management Systems (VMS) and associated security camera infrastructure across all company locations.
  • Support camera onboarding, recording, storage, retention, health monitoring, live view, playback, exports, user access, integrations, and upgrades.
  • Troubleshoot application, server, storage, network, authentication, recording, camera-connectivity, and camera-health issues.
  • Maintain inventories, licensing, support contracts, system diagrams, retention settings, recovery procedures, and secure access practices.
  • Coordinate with Security, Facilities, Network, Infrastructure, integrators, and field service providers on platform and device-level issues.
Service Operations and Technical Support
  • Own incidents, requests, changes, problems, and escalations from initial triage through resolution and documentation.
  • Provide timely stakeholder updates and maintain clear work notes, technical records, troubleshooting guides, procedures, and runbooks.
  • Identify recurring issues, perform root-cause analysis, and implement permanent corrective actions.
  • Coordinate vendor support, validate proposed fixes, and ensure work is documented and completed.
  • Participate in planned after-hours work and critical-incident support when required.
Platform Reliability, Security, and Infrastructure
  • Monitor the operational health, availability, performance, capacity, and connectivity of BMS and video-surveillance platforms.
  • Improve monitoring by eliminating alert noise, adding proactive health checks, and establishing meaningful availability indicators.
  • Coordinate patching, upgrades, certificates, backups, recovery testing, service accounts, and lifecycle activities with Infrastructure and Cybersecurity.
  • Maintain secure configurations, access controls, vendor-access procedures, system hardening, and change-management practices.
Consolidation, Standardization, and Automation
  • Assess overlapping BMS platforms, video-surveillance systems, tools, workflows, and support practices.
  • Develop and execute plans to consolidate, standardize, migrate, or retire systems where appropriate.
  • Establish standards for architecture, naming, configurations, alarm management, monitoring, documentation, access, and new-site deployments.
  • Automate repetitive provisioning, decommissioning, validation, reporting, inventory, and administrative work using scripts, APIs, and workflows.
  • Integrate platforms with ServiceNow, monitoring, DCIM, identity systems, and other enterprise services; maintain an improvement roadmap focused on measurable results.
Projects, Deployments, and Vendor Coordination
  • Participate in data center builds, expansions, upgrades, migrations, commissioning, testing, and operational turnover.
  • Review network requirements, points lists, control sequences, drawings, integrations, technical submittals, test plans, and as-built documentation.
  • Validate that new and modified systems meet operational, security, monitoring, documentation, and supportability requirements.
  • Coordinate controls contractors, security integrators, manufacturers, Facilities, Network, Infrastructure, Cybersecurity, and project teams through acceptance and turnover.
Required Qualifications:
  • Five or more years of progressively responsible experience supporting BMS/BAS, building automation, controls systems, facilities technology, operational technology, or comparable critical systems.
  • Production experience administering and troubleshooting at least one enterprise BMS/BAS platform.
  • Experience administering or supporting an enterprise Video Management System (VMS) and associated camera infrastructure.
  • Strong structured troubleshooting skills across applications, servers, networks, integrations, authentication, storage, and connected devices.
  • Working knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, VLANs, firewalls, network segmentation, and common infrastructure dependencies.
  • Working knowledge of BMS/BAS concepts, HVAC systems, environmental monitoring, controls, alarms, schedules, trends, and points.
  • Ability to interpret points lists, control sequences, system diagrams, network diagrams, technical documentation, and as-built drawings.
  • Experience working with incidents, requests, changes, problems, vendor escalations, and technical documentation.
  • Strong communication, organization, judgment, and cross-functional collaboration skills, with the ability to work safely in data-center and security environments, travel periodically, and support planned after-hours work when required.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with Tridium Niagara/N4, WebCTRL, Metasys, or comparable BMS/BAS platforms.
  • Experience with BACnet/IP, BACnet MS/TP, Modbus TCP/RTU, or other building-control and integration protocols.
  • Experience with video-management platforms such as Avigilon, Axis, Milestone, Genetec, or comparable systems.
  • Niagara certification or comparable BMS/BAS certification.
  • Windows Server administration, infrastructure monitoring, and PowerShell, Python, SQL, REST API, or comparable automation experience.
  • ServiceNow administration or integration experience and experience working in data center, colocation, critical-infrastructure, operational-technology, or regulated environments.
What Success Looks Like:
  • BMS and VMS/camera incidents are diagnosed and resolved efficiently with clear ownership through completion.
  • Repeat incidents, recurring alarms, manual requests, and unnecessary vendor escalations are reduced.
  • BMS and video-surveillance platforms have reliable monitoring, documented health checks, and defined recovery procedures.
  • Platform configurations, naming, access, documentation, inventories, and operating standards are consistent across locations.
  • Overlapping systems and processes are evaluated and consolidated, routine work is automated, and stakeholders have clear visibility into system health, risks, ownership, and lifecycle needs.
