Responsibilities

  • Manage project execution for the Critical Supplier Program (CSP) including planning, monitoring, and coordinating activities to meet scope, schedule, budget, and performance.
  • Oversee vendor and contract activities, including biweekly status meetings, action tracking, visits, procurements, and month-end reporting.
  • Maintain project management tools and reporting for real-time visibility of status, milestones, and KPIs.
  • Identify, communicate, and mitigate risks and issues; develop corrective actions with teams and stakeholders.

What You Will Do

The Sigma Operations Group (SIGMA-OPS) seeks an energetic, customer-focused individual for the position of Project Leader to serve as an integral part of the Programmatic Project Management Team. This team focuses on the incorporation of project management principles and serves as the primary liaison with a variety of Sigma Division programmatic organizations, support organizations, and LANL program offices. The successful candidate will work with Sigma Division management, technical teams, and program managers throughout project life cycles, to include tracking programmatic work progress and reporting on deliverable and milestone status. This position requires a motivated and professional individual who can strengthen communication across various stakeholders, acting independently, and quickly changing focus.

Specifically, the Project Leader 2 will:
  • Manage project execution for the Critical Supplier Program (CSP), including planning, monitoring, and coordinating project activities to ensure scope, schedule, budget, and performance objectives are achieved.
  • Manage vendor and contract activities associated with assigned projects, including leading biweekly vendor status meetings, tracking action items, coordinating vendor visits, monitoring procurements, and overseeing month-end financial reporting.
  • Maintain project management tools and reporting systems to provide stakeholders with accurate, real-time visibility into project status, schedules, milestones, and key performance metrics.
  • Monitor project schedules and proactively identify, communicate, and mitigate issues, risks, and conflicts that could impact project execution, working with project teams and stakeholders to develop and implement corrective actions.
What You Need
Minimum Job Requirements
  • Working knowledge of and experience in project management of technical or operational work, including developing project plans, work breakdown structures, and work packages for small and mid-level projects; managing to scope, schedule, budget, and technical baselines; and documenting baseline reports and change control actions.
  • Demonstrated ability to be the primary spokesperson to report on project status and issues to multiple internal organizations, external vendors, subcontractors, and/or customers.
  • Demonstrated ability in building productive relationships with vendors, customers, and cross-functional stakeholders while exercising sound judgement to independently research, analyze, and resolve complex problems.
  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills providing excellent and professional customer service to individuals at all levels.
  • Experienced ability to successfully plan, organize, lead, and monitor team efforts to completion.
  • Experience identifying, assessing, and mitigating project risks, issues, and conflicts to support successful project execution.
  • Ability to obtain a Q clearance, which normally requires U.S. citizenship.
Education/Experience for Project Leader 2

Position requires a Bachelor's Degree in a related field from an accredited institution and 5 years related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.

Desired Qualifications
  • Experience managing vendor relationships, including contract administration, vendor performance monitoring, and coordination with external suppliers.
  • Experience supporting projects in a regulated technical, or government environment, including work with procurement, subcontracting, or contract management processes.
  • Experience in handling classified matter.
  • Active DOE Q clearance.
Work Location

The work location for this position is onsite and located in Los Alamos, NM. All work locations are at the discretion of management.

Position Commitment

Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. If an employee has not served the time required, they may only apply for Laboratory jobs with the documented approval of their Division Leader. The position commitment for this position is 1 year.

Additional Details

Directive 206.2 - Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2. Clearance: Q

Position will be cleared to this level. Selected applicants will be subject to a background investigation conducted by or on behalf of the Federal Government, and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified matter. This position requires a Q clearance, and obtaining such clearance requires US Citizenship except in extremely rare circumstances. Dependent upon the position, additional authorization to access classified information may be required, which may or may not be available to dual citizens. Receipt of a Q clearance and additional access authorization ultimately is a decision of the Federal Government and not of Triad.

*Eligibility requirements: To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information.

New-Employment Drug Test

The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing. Although New Mexico and other states have legalized the use of marijuana, use and possession of marijuana remain illegal under federal law. A positive drug test for marijuana will result in termination of employment, even if the use was pre-offer.
