Job summary

Equinix in Dallas is seeking a Critical Facilities Engineer to maintain and optimize electrical, mechanical, and cooling systems across our data-center facilities. Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on critical facility infrastructure.
  • Monitor, operate, and troubleshoot electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Support operation of systems including UPS, generators, switchgear, HVAC, chillers, CRAH/CRAC units, fire and life-safety systems, and Building Monitoring Systems (BMS).
  • Perform site inspections and respond to alarms, incidents, and emergencies.
  • Coordinate and oversee vendor activities to ensure work is completed safely and in accordance with Equinix standards.
  • Collaborate across Operations, Engineering, and Security teams to ensure facility reliability.
  • Participate in a 24x7 operational environment, including shift work, on-call support, weekends, holidays, and emergency response as required.

What You’ll Do
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on critical facility infrastructure
  • Monitor, operate, and troubleshoot electrical and mechanical systems
  • Support operation of systems including UPS, generators, switchgear, HVAC, chillers, CRAH/CRAC units, fire and life-safety systems, and Building Monitoring Systems (BMS)
  • Perform site inspections and respond to alarms, incidents, and emergencies
  • Execute maintenance procedures, work orders, circuit installations, and equipment repairs
  • Develop and follow maintenance documentation including MOPs, scripts, permits, and site logs
  • Coordinate and oversee vendor activities to ensure work is completed safely and in accordance with Equinix standards
  • Identify operational risks, single points of failure, and opportunities for infrastructure improvement
  • Support infrastructure projects, equipment upgrades, and operational excellence initiatives
  • Collaborate across Operations, Engineering, and Security teams to ensure facility reliability
  • Participate in a 24x7 operational environment, including shift work, on-call support, weekends, holidays, and emergency response as required

Minimum Education Required

Preferred Qualifications
  • Data center or mission-critical facility experience
  • Experience with UPS, generators, switchgear, chillers, CRAH/CRAC systems, BMS, or EPMS
  • Trade school, military technical training, apprenticeship, or engineering-related education
  • Electrical, HVAC, mechanical, or facilities certifications
  • Experience leading maintenance activities or mentoring technical personnel

Engineer III: Developing technical expertise while performing routine maintenance and operational activities under guidance.

Engineer IV: Independently performs maintenance, troubleshooting, and incident response activities with limited supervision.

Engineer VI: Recognized subject matter expert responsible for advanced troubleshooting, operational leadership, complex projects, and strategic infrastructure improvements.

Pay Information

The targeted pay range for this position in the following location is / locations are:

United States - DA11 Dallas : 46,400 - 69,600 USD / Annual

Our pay ranges reflect the minimum and maximum target for new hire pay for the full-time position determined by role, level, and location.The pay range shown is based on our compensation structure in place at the time of posting and may be updated periodically based on business needs. Individual pay is based on additional factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education and/or training.
