Overview

As a Critical Environment Technician (CET) - Sterling in Microsoft's Cloud Operations & Innovation (CO+I) team, you will help maintain the critical infrastructure that keeps our datacenters operational. Responsibilities include monitoring, inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting, enforcing safety and security standards, and developing operational procedures.

Responsibilities

Equipment and Systems Operations

• Perform tasks such as rounds and initial assessments with minimal supervision, supporting colleagues as needed.
• Operate and monitor equipment and systems safely and professionally, including HVAC, controls, electrical, and mechanical systems.
• Conduct inspections and validations, analyze alarms, and escalate issues per policies.
• Respond to abnormal conditions using emergency procedures, assisting in incident analysis and resolution.

Equipment and Systems Maintenance

• Perform planned, predictive, and corrective maintenance following SOPs, MOPs, and DMOPs.
• Communicate maintenance activities, prioritize tasks, document work, and support troubleshooting efforts.

Critical Environment Culture

• Follow safety, security, and business process requirements, ensuring a safe work environment.
• Participate in meetings, trainings, and safety assessments, proactively maintaining safety standards.

Physical and Other Requirements

• Occasional climbing of ladders, stairs, and ramps.
• Prolonged standing, lifting, and pushing/pulling with assistive devices as needed.
• Normal visual acuity and color vision required.
