Job summary

JLL is seeking a Critical Engineer to protect mission-critical infrastructure, including fire/life safety, HVAC, UPS, ATS, generators, and switchgear, in data centers and 24/7 facilities. You will monitor systems, troubleshoot, and coordinate repairs to ensure uninterrupted operations.

The role requires after-hours and weekend availability in a fast-paced, highly secure environment. Plano, TX-based position with standard daytime schedule plus on-call coverage to meet client needs.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum 3 years in data center or critical facility environments.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Proficiency with Word and Excel.
  • Availability to work after hours and weekends.

Responsibilities

  • Command the nerve center of building systems and emergency backup systems to protect assets.
  • Analyze complex system operations and implement swift solutions to prevent downtime.
  • Perform installations and repairs across plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and control systems.
  • Guard critical equipment including UPS, generators and cooling infrastructure.
  • Oversee contractor activities to meet standards in critical environments.
  • Document emergency protocols and maintain meticulous records.
  • Provide after-hours and weekend coverage as needed to maintain operations.

What your day-to-day will look like:
  • Command the nerve center of building systems including mission-critical fire/life safety, advanced HVAC, sophisticated electrical infrastructure, and emergency backup systems that protect valuable digital assets
  • Act as a technical detective who analyzes complex system operations, identifies problems before they expand, and implements swift solutions that prevent costly downtime
  • Execute precision installations and repairs across plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and control systems with the versatility of a multi-disciplined technical expert
  • Serve as the guardian of critical equipment including UPS systems, generators, and specialized cooling infrastructure, ensuring flawless operation at all times
  • Orchestrate and oversee contractor activities to ensure all work meets the exacting standards required in critical environments
  • Champion meticulous documentation practices and emergency protocols that safeguard operations during high-pressure situations
  • Provide after-hours and weekend coverage as needed to maintain continuous operations and avoid client disruption
Required qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience in data center or critical facility environments, specifically with UPS systems, emergency generators, and switch-gear
  • Valid driver's license
  • Proficiency with computer applications including Word and Excel
  • Proven track record of delivering outstanding internal and external customer service
  • Availability to work after hours and weekends as required to maintain uninterrupted operations
Preferred qualifications:
  • Master or Journeyman Electrical Certification or active Electrician License
  • Additional technical certifications in HVAC, plumbing, or building automation systems
  • Experience with building management systems and computerized maintenance management software
  • Knowledge of fire/life safety systems and emergency response protocols in critical environments
  • Familiarity with precision cooling systems and raised floor infrastructure common in data centers
Location:

Plano,TX

Schedule:

Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM schedule, with required evening and weekend work to meet client operational needs and respond to emergency situations.
