Jones Lang LaSalle Incorporated seeks an Assistant Chief Engineer to lead critical environment operations at a data center in Amarillo, TX. You will mentor staff, monitor power and cooling, and drive preventive maintenance while ensuring safety and regulatory compliance.

The role requires 5+ years in data center management, strong leadership, and mastery of facility management software and building automation. On-site work with a focus on reliability and efficiency.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of data center operations and management.
• Strong knowledge of data center infrastructure (power, cooling, and network).
• Familiarity with ASHRAE, TIA, and Uptime Institute standards.
• Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• Strong leadership and team management abilities.
• Proficiency with facility management software and building automation systems.
• Valid certification in CDCP, DCPRO, or equivalent.
• Valid driver's license.

Assistant Chief Engineer - Critical Environments

What this job involves

• Assisting in the management and coordination of data center facility operations and maintenance activities
• Supervising and mentoring technical staff, including engineers, technicians, and contractors
• Monitoring and analyzing critical systems performance, including power, cooling, and network infrastructure
• Developing and implementing preventive maintenance schedules and procedures
• Collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with safety, security, and regulatory requirements
• Participating in capacity planning and infrastructure upgrade projects
• Responding to and managing critical incidents and emergency situations
• Preparing technical reports, documentation, and presentations for management and clients

Incident Management

Be the first point of contact for service impacting events involving the electrical distribution system. Assist the team in troubleshooting and mitigating incidents. Assist in the creation of root cause analysis (RCAs). Be available for after-hours support regarding the electrical distribution systems. This includes 24x7 responses.

Desired experience and technical skills - Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in data center operations and management
• Strong knowledge of data center infrastructure, including power distribution, cooling systems, and network architecture
• Familiarity with industry standards and best practices (e.g., ASHRAE, TIA, Uptime Institute)
• Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills
• Strong leadership and team management abilities
• Proficiency in using facility management software and building automation systems
• Valid certification in at least one relevant area (e.g., CDCP, DCPRO, or equivalent)
• Valid driver's license

Preferred

• Professional Engineer (PE) license
• Experience with energy efficiency initiatives and sustainable data center practices
• Knowledge of project management methodologies
• Multi-site data center management experience

Location: On-site –Amarillo, TX
