The Critical Care Transport Nurse (CCTRN) provides high quality nursing care including triage, assessment and treatment utilizing the policies and protocols within the scope of practice as directed by the Critical Care Transport Program Medical Director. The CCTRN, in collaboration with their partner, will assess the nature and extent of illness and injury to establish and prioritize care needed for a safe transport to an appropriate facility. The CCTRN will be qualified to provide care for patients across the life span. The CCTRN will be responsible the ensuring that safety remains the highest priority throughout the transport continuum. The CCTRN will also be responsible for public relations activities in the region, education of regional providers, quality review of transports, case study reviews, among other PR and quality activities.
Certifications:
Licensed Registered Professional Nurse (RN) - Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR);
and
Licensed Registered Professional Nurse (RN) - Indiana (IN) - Indiana Professional Licensing Agency (IPLA);
Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days - American Heart Association (AHA);
and
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Provider - American Heart Association (AHA);
and
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Provider - American Heart Association (AHA);
and
Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) within 3 months - American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP);
and
Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) within 3 months - Emergency Nurses Association (ENA);
or
Trauma Nurse Specialist (TNS) within 3 months - Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH);
and
International Trauma Life Support (ITLS) within 3 months - International Trauma Life Support (ITLS);
or
Prehospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS) within 3 months - National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians (NAEMT);
and
National Nursing Certification - Varies; Hazardous Materials Awareness (HazMat) within 6 months - Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA);
and
ICS-800: National Incident Management System (NIMS) within 6 months - Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA);
and
ICS-700: National Incident Management System (NIMS) within 6 months - Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA);
and
ICS-200: National Incident Management System (NIMS) within 6 months - Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA);
and
