Three 12-hour day shifts with every third weekend and holiday rotations.
The Neuro Intensive Care Unit (NICU) is a 20-bed specialty ICU caring for stroke, neurointerventional procedures, neurovascular surgery, epilepsy, spinal cord injury, and brain injury patients. Our team includes critical care nurses, therapists, advanced practice providers, physicians, and surgeons, providing high-level care 24/7. The patient to nurse ratio is 2:1 or 1:1. Our team is dedicated to delivering exceptional care to patients and their families.
Job Summary:
The Critical Care Technician (CCT), supervised by a Registered Nurse, provides delegated age-appropriate care in the Critical Care Units, in a culturally and ethnically sensitive manner. The CCT assists patients with tasks related to basic nursing skills, personal care, basic restorative services, and critical care skills, based on their clinical competency assessment. The CCT performs skills learned during CNA training or basic nursing courses at an accredited school. The CCT may be asked to provide continuous safety observation. This position reports to the Nurse Manager or Assistant Nurse Manager of the assigned Critical Care Unit and the RNs on duty each shift. Other duties may be assigned.
Education: High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
Training: Completion of the Critical Care Tech course or equivalent within 6 months of hire is required.
Licensure: State of Wisconsin Nursing Assistant Certification is required, or current enrollment in a nursing program with documentation of successful completion of basic nursing courses, including at least one acute care clinical rotation. AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or equivalent is required within 90 days of hire.
