Job summary

Newcastle Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Critical Care Support Assistant for the Victoria Critical Care Unit at the Royal Victoria Infirmary. The role involves assisting nurses on a busy neuro and major trauma unit, contributing to a multi-disciplinary team, and maintaining patient dignity and safety.

Qualifications

Job Overview

An exciting opportunity has become available to join the team on the Victoria Critical Care Unit at the Royal Victoria Infirmary as a Critical Care Support Assistant.

The post holder will work on a busy critical care unit that specialises in neuro conditions and major trauma injuries.

  • 37 hours 30 minutes/week
Main duties of the job

This role will involve assisting registered nurses and other healthcare practitioners in providing high quality patient care and report any concerns regarding a patients condition to the registered practitioner.

The post holder will be required to work part of an effective multi-disciplinary team contributing to the departmental objectives.

Detailed Job Description And Main Responsibilities
  • Post holder will be expected to contribute to housekeeping and other ward / department duties as required, e.g. general tidiness, re-determined stock levels are met and clinical equipment is clean, working and stored correctly.
  • To abide by Trust policies and procedures
  • To assist the registered nurses (or other healthcare practitioners) in providing high quality patient care and report any concerns regarding the patient’s condition to the qualified nurse.
  • Maintain patients’ privacy and dignity at all times and provide care in a compassionate and sensitive manner.
  • Be an effective part of the multi-disciplinary team contributing to the departmental objectives.
  • Maintaining a safe, clean and comfortable environment for the patients, their families and visitors.
  • Actively contribute to the provision of nutrition of the patients on the Ward / Department
  • Assist with admin & clerical duties as required.
