Qualifications

• Master’s Degree from an accredited school of Social Work.
• Massachusetts Licensed Certified Social Worker required.
• 1–2 years of knowledge of the social work process and community resources related to health, illness, and disability.
• Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills; able to work with healthcare professionals, patients and families.
• Bilingual or bicultural skills a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assess patients and families using the department’s psychosocial assessment tool.
• Identify issues and build a care plan.
• Involve family during initial assessment and contact when indicated.
• Meet inpatient/outpatient assessment timeframes (within hours or days).
• Provide psychotherapeutic treatment and psychosocial support to reduce identified problems.
• Keep inpatients and families informed through weekly contact and adjust as needed.
• Consult with the healthcare team to ensure emotional and social needs are addressed.
• Document encounters with date, time, title, and signature per policy.
• Maintain confidentiality and proper documentation in records.
• Submit statistics and reports on time.
• Provide clinical supervision to department staff and supervise MSW/BSW students.
