Job summary

UVA Health in Charlottesville, VA is seeking a Respiratory Therapist to evaluate, treat, and monitor patients with acute and chronic cardiopulmonary conditions across clinical settings. You will support stabilization, disease management, and recovery, working closely with physicians, nurses, and the care team.

The role involves direct hands-on patient care, adherence to evidence-based protocols, and documentation to ensure safety and quality in a busy academic medical center.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a CoARC accredited respiratory therapy program.
• Active Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) and Virginia license, NBRC credential
• AHA Health Care Provider BLS certification required, within 2 years of hire.

Responsibilities

• Deliver respiratory care therapies and follow physician orders.
• Assess respiratory status and adjust treatment based on response.
• Manage ventilation, oxygen delivery, and airway support devices.
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and care team to implement care plans.
• Educate patients and families on respiratory conditions and equipment.
• Document care accurately to support continuity and safety.
