Job summary

UVA Health is seeking a Respiratory Therapist to evaluate, treat, and monitor patients with acute and chronic cardiopulmonary conditions across diverse clinical settings. You will deliver therapies per orders, assess respiratory status, and collaborate with the care team to develop and implement care plans.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a CoARC accredited respiratory therapy program.
• 12 months of acute/critical care Respiratory Therapy clinical experience.
• Active Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
• Licensed to practice as a Respiratory Therapist in the Commonwealth of Virginia
• AHA Health Care Provider BLS certification
• Active NBRC Specialty Credential expected within 2 years of hire.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate, treat, and monitor patients with acute and chronic cardiopulmonary conditions across clinical environments.
• Deliver respiratory care therapies and interventions per physician orders and protocols.
• Assess respiratory status and adjust treatment based on presentation and response.
• Manage and monitor mechanical ventilation, oxygen delivery systems, and airway support devices.
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and the care team to develop respiratory care plans.
• Educate patients and families about respiratory conditions and equipment.
• Document care to support continuity, quality, and safety.
