Job summary

UMass Memorial Health is seeking a Respiratory Therapist to support patients across intensive care and general units. You will administer respiratory therapies, monitor ventilated patients, assist with procedures, and coordinate airway management under department protocols.

Required credentials include MA licensure and NBRC RRT; a 40‑hour schedule with weekend/holiday rotation applies. A $10,000 sign-on bonus may be available for external hires.

Qualifications

• Current MA respiratory license.
• New graduates have 2 months after hire date to become an RRT.
• Current NBRC RRT credential for new hires.
• Minimum of an Associate's degree in Respiratory Care.
• Current certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support or equivalent.
• Current Neonatal Resuscitation certification (Memorial Campus).

Responsibilities

• Monitors and supports patients on mechanical ventilation.
• Provides respiratory support and CPR as required.
• Assists physician/anesthesia during intubations.
• Assists with bronchoscopies and percutaneous tracheotomies at bedside.
• Establishes treatment plans and modifies therapy per department protocols.
• Obtains arterial blood gases and performs blood draws for gas analysis.
• Sets up and monitors ventilators and oxygen delivery equipment.
• Coordinates and maintains difficult airway carts and high‑risk airway patients.
